Video Transfer Frequently Asked Questions
How can I place an order?
1. Select the Service you want and submit your order online. By placing your order online, you will receive instructions on how and where to send your order, as well as an order confimation receipt. You will also be able to track the progress of your order online. We have several payments options: You can prepay with your Credit Card; Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover Card. You can send a Personal Check or Money Order. Or, you can just print an order form and send in your order.
2. Take your order to any Post Office, FedEx, or UPS Store. They will have all the shipping materials you need right there.
3. Send your order to: Don's Camera, 314 N. Capitol Way, Olympia, WA 98501.
4. Or you can simply drop off your order at our downtown Olympia store.
When we receive your order, we will send you an order received confirmation. As soon as your order is completed, we will ship it back to you and you will receive an order has shipped email with Tracking Numbers.
What is the best way to send in my transfer order?
When sending us your transfer order, we recommend you use carriers with tracking capabilities such as UPS or FedEx. If you use the US Postal Service, make sure to order delivery confirmation. Make sure you pack your order well.
Can I Pay by Personal Check or Money Order?
Yes, we accept personal checks & money orders. Please select payment by check in payment option of the shopping cart. Send your check with your order. Make checks payable to: Don's Camera
Do I have to submit my Credit Card information online? No. You can print one of our order forms and submit your order.
Will you return all my originals? Yes. All your original Tapes, Film, Slides, Photos, or Negatives will be sent back to you along with your new DVD's or CD's.
Are your DVD's copy protected?
Our DVDs contain no copy protection. You will have no problem making copies with your Computer and DVD Burner. They are yours to copy as you choose.
I'd like to edit the DVD video on my PC or MAC. Is this possible?
Our DVDs contain VOB files, which are MPEG-2 files compiled into DVD-Video format. For PC users, you will be able to extract MPEG-2 files from your DVD using simple software, such as DVD-TO-MPEG , Ulead Moviefactory and many others. You cannot import Mpeg-2 files into your Mac.
The best way is to either order MPEG computer files for PC, or, AVI computer files for MAC. By doing this you will have no problem working with these files on your computer.
Will your DVD's play in all DVD Players?
We use DVD-R Media which is the most compatible. Almost all DVD Players sold today will play DVD-R Media. You may check your owners manual and see if it will play DVD-R Media. If it does, you will have no problem playing ours.
Movie Film Reels to DVD Questions
What kind of movie film can you transfer?
We can transfer Regular 8mm, Super 8mm (both sound & silent), and 16mm movie film.
How much movie film will fit onto a DVD?
Regular 8mm & Super 8mm aproximately 1500 ft. 16mm approximately 3000 ft.
How should I arrange my movie film?
Most people will arrange them by date. Put them in a numbered order and we will transfer them in that order. Each Reel will be a separate chapter on the DVD Menu.
Can I put titles on the reels?
Yes. The titles will show on the DVD Menu as chapters.
Can I have background music added?
No. We do not add background music to Movie Film Transfers at this time.
Video Tape to DVD Questions
My videotape is broken, can you fix it?
Yes we can. If your video tape arrives broken, we will provide a basic repair for $7.50.
Each of my videotapes contain less than one hour of video. Can you combine 2 or more videotapes into one DVD?
Yes, we can combine 2 tapes (less than 2 hours total) to DVD.
Can you transfer only a part of my video tape?
Yes, we can transfer just a part of your tape. Please select Premium DVD and let us know exactly what to edit out.
What is the difference between Standard DVD & Premium DVD? Standard DVD is a straight transfer of your tape to DVD. We will not do any editing. You will receive a standard DVD Cover, Label and Main Menu. Premium DVD allows us to edit our areas that you do not want in your DVD. Also, we can if requested, put your Personalized Title on the DVD Cover, Label, & Main Menu.
Can you transfer my tape to avi or mpeg files? Yes. Please click on the Video to Digital Video Files category to select that option when placing your order.
Slides to DVD Questions
How do I organize my photo/slide to DVD slideshow order?
We can arrange the slideshow however you want. Most people will put their slides or photos in groups arranged by date or vacation. If you have a lot of images, (i,e) 500 or more, it is best to put them in smaller groups of 100-200. In this way they will show up on the DVD menu as a chapters. You could start at the begining and watch the whole production, or you could easily move around the DVD and watch the different chapters. It makes it a much more enjoyable DVD.
Can I title each group of slides?
Yes. Title each group of slides by year, vacation, or whatever you want. We will put that title on the chapter menu.
Can I add background music?
Yes. You can select the instrumental background music we provide or you can provide your own. Or, you can choose not to have any background music at all.
Will my slideshow have fade-in and fade-out transitions?
Yes it will. All slideshow DVD's we produce will have fade-in and fade-out transitions.
Will I be able to download and edit the images on my computer?
Yes. The DVD we produce is also a Data DVD. The images will be archived on the DVD. You will be able to open up the DVD in your computers DVD-ROM drive and load them onto your computer. There are times when we are unable to fit both the slideshow and the archived images on the same DVD. If that is the case with your order, we will provide an additional Data DVD with the archived images at no additional cost.
